We're passionate about serving writers

Literistic connects fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction writers with the opportunities that matter—curated lists, clear deadlines, and one less thing to chase down.

Notebook and pen: writing in focus

Our mission

Literistic was founded by Liam Sarsfield and Jessie Jones in 2015. Their first lists were compiled and sent to the intrepid writers who joined that year. We're passionate about serving writers and connecting them with the opportunities that matter.

The list has only grown more robust, equitable, and useful with every year. Today Literistic is run by Cole Meyer, who works to bring you the very best opportunities each month—and we're always finding more to share with you.

The problem we solve

Writing opportunities are everywhere—and easy to miss.

  • Scattered deadlines

Contests, fellowships, and journals each post dates and rules in different places. Keeping track is a full-time job.

  • Easy to miss the right one

Without a single place to look, the contest or fellowship that fits you can slip by—until it's too late.

  • We curate and deliver

Literistic gathers the best opportunities in one place and delivers them on a regular schedule so you never miss that favorite contest again.

How it works

One list, every month—plus tools to stay on top of deadlines.

  1. Monthly list

Our List goes out on the 1st of every month, 12 months a year, with opportunities for fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.

  2. Add to your calendar

Easily add deadlines from the newsletter to your personal calendar so you can plan and submit on time.

  3. Focus on writing

Spend less time hunting and more time writing. We handle the tracking; you handle the submissions.

Who it's for

Fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction writers at every stage.

  • New to submitting

Cut your teeth on contests and journals that welcome emerging voices.

  • Fellowships & retreats

Find that extra support and room of your own when you're ready for the next step.

  • Publishing your work

Journals and contests to bring your fiction, poetry, and nonfiction into the world.

Values and approach

We're committed to a list that's robust, equitable, and useful. There's always more out there—and we're here to find the best new opportunities and share them with you every month.
